DEFY LIMITS. DEFY AVERAGE. DEFY MENTAL BLOCKS. DEFY GRAVITY.

At Defy, we have embraced the Defy Teaching Theory, which involves mixing students of different levels in a single class. This approach has proven to be highly effective and efficient in running our classes.

For beginner students, the presence of higher-level peers provides a visual representation of what tricks they can strive to achieve. This motivates them to excel and progress to the level of their peers.

On the other hand, intermediate and advanced students benefit from the mixed-level environment as it prevents them from becoming complacent. The students encourage and challenge one another, fostering a culture of continuous advancement.

While we recognize that some students thrive when surrounded by peers with advanced skills, we also understand that others may feel intimidated by such an environment. For those students, we offer beginner-only classes and Advanced- only classes to cater to their needs.

CLASS SIZES OUR SMALL CLASS SIZES ARE SOMETHING THAT WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON. WE NEVER GO OVER 5 STUDENTS PER TEACHER IN MIXED LEVEL CLASSES.

SETTINGInstead of passively waiting for their turn, our students actively engage in drills that enhance their conditioning, flexibility, technique, and muscle memory. These drills are crucial in accelerating their progress in tumbling, ensuring that they are constantly improving and refining their skills. This proactive approach not only keeps our students engaged and motivated but also lays a solid foundation for their future success in tumbling.

CLASS TYPES

We offer various class types, mainly mixed-level classes. In these classes, each student progresses at their own pace, and their coach will guide them on the skills they're working towards. In Between turns students will engage in skill-specific drills and practice.

Our preschool program includes two distinct classes designed for students between the ages of 3 and 6: Junior Preschool and Senior Preschool. These classes are specifically tailored to build a solid foundation for tumbling. Through an engaging obstacle course, students develop muscle memory for essential body shapes used in tumbling, fostering strength, balance, and coordination. Additionally, they are introduced to basic tumbling tricks such as somersaults, bridges, headstands, handstands, and cartwheels, laying the groundwork for their future tumbling endeavors.

Our beginner-only classes are designed for students aged 5 to 10 who are either new to gymnastics or have mastered their preschool-age classes. Conducted as group lessons, these sessions focus on fundamental gymnastic skills including somersaults, headstands, handstands, backbends, cartwheels, roundoffs, front limbers, and kickovers.

For students who have mastered and refined all of their fundamental techniques, advanced classes are available. Students should have already completed aerials and back handsprings. The majority of our advanced-only students have mastered most of their skills and are attending to concentrate on specific cheer or dance skills, maintain their existing abilities, or learn exciting new acrobatic challenges.

Beginner cheerleaders can take advantage of cheer prep, an instructional class designed for those new to the sport. This class covers fundamental cheerleading skills such as pow routines, cheers, basic stunting, tumbling, and essential cheer techniques, providing a strong foundation for aspiring cheerleaders to build upon.
